I don't have an allegiance to a particular brand of primer, but I usually use Tamiya or Mr. I primed the plane this time with Mr Surfacer 1000 primer from a spray can. How long did you allow each of the colors to cure before applying the next? I am still experimenting with Vallejo Air. Next I will start painting this thing up, while I work on the other plane. This is especially true around the ATA refueling door. Some of the parts are now very very thin, which will require some care later. I did a test fit with white glue before priming the parts. I think I have managed enough thinning on the bottom to leave room for the from landing gear well. There will be some minor sanding needed on install, but it is a satisfactory fit and 95% of the way there. Here I have more or less completed the process of trimming and thinning down the fuselage to install the cockpit. Not sure why I am locking on that of all things. 2) The Aires resin cockpit is difficult to install in the Academy model!įor some reason I am irrationally happy the sidewalls contain the air vents next to the instrument panel that are prominently visible in F-4 cockpit photos. 1) The Aires resin cockpit looks awesome and should be amazing if I can get it in the fuselage. I have learned a couple things along the way. I had read numerous reviews online about the difficulty of installing the Aires F-4c cockpit in the Academy model, but I bought it anyway. My Mirage III is nowhere close to done, but I couldn't resist starting the resin cockpit for the F-4. ![]()
